In Memory of Joel A. Goldblatt
It is with great sorrow that we let you know of the passing of Joel Goldblatt on February 6, 2007. Joel was a tremendous partner and a loyal friend. As many of you know, Joel courageously battled cancer for the past two years. Your prayers and support helped Joel remain strong during his fight, allowing him to continue to touch us in the immeasurable ways only Joel could. Joel had a passion for life and provided great energy and enthusiasm to everything he did. He will be dearly missed by all of us at Spire Capital.
Prior to co-founding Spire Capital, Joel co-founded Waller-Sutton Media Partners, a private equity fund focused on the media and communications industries. Prior to Waller-Sutton, Joel was the Managing Partner of Monmouth Cablevision and its numerous affiliates and a former president of the New Jersey Cable Television Association. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from McDaniel College, where he served as a trustee, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
As well as being professionally accomplished, Joel was first and foremost a family man. He leaves behind his loving wife, Karen, and two grown sons, Jonathan and Michael. In honor of Joel, a memorial fund has been established at his alma mater, McDaniel College. Those wishing to donate in honor of Joel should direct contributions to:

Spire Capital has established a team of investment professionals who have served as owners, managers, investors and advisors of companies in the business services, information services, media and communications industries for more than 20 years, and who have worked together in the private equity industry since 1997. Through its collective experiences, Spire's investment team has built significant relationships with senior managers, institutional investors and investment banking professionals in numerous industry sub-sectors.
A Spire Capital investment team typically consists of two to three investment professionals who source, transact and guide a particular portfolio company. In addition to a seat on and/or control of a portfolio company's board of directors, Spire typically establishes relationships with company management at various levels of the organization to ensure relationship depth and consistency.
Through our extensive industry relationships and operational experience, we are able to enhance shareholder value, and in particular, accelerate sales growth. We access senior decision makers at many companies within our targeted industries and facilitate the strategic sales process, thereby enhancing revenue opportunities. In addition, we continuously assist portfolio company senior management with strategy formulation, capital market initiatives, senior management recruitment and the adoption of industry "best practices."
Our investment professionals represent a unique asset to our portfolio companies and differentiate Spire Capital from its private equity peer group. It is our team's collective industry experience that allows Spire to provide unparalleled operational and strategic guidance to its portfolio companies.
